 Stephen Williams is a San Diego based abstract painter and certified art therapy practitioner. As the founder of The Hyangle, his work explores healing, identity, and self expression through color, texture, and movement.

Stephen creates layered, emotionally charged pieces that combine painting, journaling, and breathwork as tools for personal transformation. His art is rooted in lived experience turning trauma into testimony and pain into purpose.

ARTIST STATMENT

Stephen Williams

Professional Abstract Artist  

Since 2014, I have embarked on a journey of self-discovery and healing through the practice of abstract painting. For me, art is a non-verbal language; a form of therapy that transcends words and speaks directly to the soul. My paintings are an extension of my inner world, expressed through free-flowing abstractions that invite viewers to embark on their own personal journeys.   Each canvas is a playground for creativity, where mark making techniques and gestural applications of color come together to form a harmonious yet dynamic composition. My work is non-representational, allowing for open interpretation and encouraging each viewer to find their own meaning within the twists and turns of each art piece.   In my work, you will find a reflection of my ongoing exploration of self and a celebration of the freedom that comes with abstract expression. I invite you to lose yourself in the patterns, colors, and movements, and to find your own stories within the canvas.
