BIO
Stephen Williams is a San Diego-based abstract painter and certified art therapy practitioner, born and raised in Southern California. A high school art class sparked his creative path, which he formalized with a Bachelor's in Mixed Media Arts from San Diego State University. He began his career in photography capturing landscapes and urban environments before finding his passion for painting on canvas in 2016.
In 2020, Stephen founded The Hyangle, opening its first Downtown San Diego gallery in 2025. Through this platform, he partners with local nonprofits, facilitates art therapy workshops, and hosts community events that bring art directly to the people around him.

STATEMENT
I am Stephen Williams, a San Diego-based abstract painter and founder of The Hyangle. Through layered color, texture, and movement, I create paintings that explore mental health and healing. My work is influenced by personal loss, grief, and pain. I create space for viewers to slow down, reflect, and connect with their own experiences.
